It's been a charitable few weeks for the Katch International team as we extended our hands to hand out Ramadan packages to the blue coat workers in Al Barsha with the Quintessentially Lifestyle team and other volunteers from around the city. Care packages were handed out to the workers as just before the start of Ramadan to support with care during the holy month.
We were also very 'blessed' to have been asked to support a truly inspiring homegrown brand on National Cancer Survivors Day, which was on the 4th June at the amazing Mojo Gallery in Al Quoz. Blessed is a support group for cancer survivors, patients and anyone who has been touched by the disease.
From 10:00 am until 8:00 pm. members and general public were invited to the gallery to cruise through the elegant new fashion creations at the pop up store, where all the proceeds go toward helping cancer patients while connecting with a few likeminded souls and making memories at the photo booth. Hatty Pedder, the renowned exhibiting artist at Mojo Gallery was present and did what she does best which is provide guests with personalised bespoke gifts by drawing live making it a fashion filled fun day.
Of course the most important part of the day was to create awareness of Cancer survivorsand ongoing support and this was highlighted by the co – founder and creative director of Blessed, Lama Riachi who is also a cancer survivor. Having been through such a life changing experience, Lama shared her story as well as educated guests about Blessed which is dedicated to providing emotional, educational, and spiritual as well as financial support to anyone whose life has been touched by cancer. “It’s so wonderful to see such a great turnout and support for blessed on such an important day. Blessed is dedicated to cancer patients where we aim to spread an attitude of gratitude and continuously seek to create awareness” says Lama.
Amongst the speakers was Dr Layla Lahoud who introduced the concept of preventive medicine as well as provided more information on preventive oncology. A practicing physician and leading preventive medicine specialist from Lebanon, Dr Layla has been a constant voice in international panels and has made it her mission to help people identify the preventive factors that can be used to ensure a longer, healthier and better quality of life.

These are the voyages of Katch International; on its mission to promote the fabulous Middle East Film and Comic Con as they endeavour to bring the best entertainment to true believers from all over the world.
Captain’s Log: Star Date 12.04.06
As we sweep up the stray graphic novel doddles and pack up the virtual reality googles (thanks Samsung!) the time has come to reflect on another ‘out of this world’ edition of MEFCC! Now in its 5th year, the 2016 exhibition saw record numbers of visitors through the door. Over 60,000 fans travelled from far and wide, interstellar public transport notwithstanding, for 3 days of non-stop cosplay, fun, drama, comics, trading, shows, music, films and more celebrities than a Marvel Universe cross-over movie! Whether it is the line-up or the location, MEFCC has arguably the best fans in the world; not only did we see characters from all the major sci-fi and fantasy genres, as well as many of the more niche and underground, but MEFCC is truly a ‘meeting of minds’ in which attendees of every age, gender, culture and nationality come together to celebrate the power of imagination.
As the strategic alignment PR agency for MEFCC, the Katch team were responsible for making sure that the voices of 2016’s bumper crop of celebrity stars connected with media, both regionally and internationally. Whether they wanted the inside scoop on season 6 from Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, RKO tips from Randy Orton, Josh Whedon gossip from Summer Glau, news on upcoming Three Cornetto projects from Nick Frost or simply to shake the hand of the time-travelling legend that is Christopher ‘Doc Brown’ Lloyd, no one left disappointed! Aside from some insightful one-on-one sessions with journalists from Dubai One, The National, Gulf News, Whats On, Sky News and many more, we hosted a full roster press conference including anime voice artist Veronica Taylor, ‘Tricky’ Darryl MCDaniels of Run DMC and MEFCC regular Max Landis! If that wasn’t enough, the Godfather of comics, Mr Stan Lee, also joined us live from LA for two Q&A sessions for true believers! Fantastical celebrity guests is one thing, but MEFCC also knows how to entertain visitors!
This year guests could enjoy a full roster of activities, technology and new product launches. You could, grab a ‘selfie’ with an animatronic gorilla or a, luckily, scaled for size T-Rex; zip line across the exhibition hall; bring your gaming talents out of your living room with the Fanta Gaming Masters; hone your skills in one of our workshops on everything from Cosplay tips with Tokumaru Oguri to electric vampires, magic and voice projection; meet Spock; and even play FIFA against Jessie ‘Fangs’. But MEFCC isn’t just a fortress of sociability for super hero devotees; it is also a testament to the thriving film industry in the Middle East. The Access Conference, now in its second year, connects some of the world’s leading entertainment brands to a new frontier in movie making and talent acquisition and allows our regionally-based up and coming producers, designers, directors and thinkers to learn how to channel their skills into successful ventures. Here are just some of the highlights of the exceptional entertainment MEFCC squeezed in:
Day One Highlights of Comic Con Dubai:
• The Godfather of comics Stan Lee joined us live from LA via video link to answer those burning questions from a full house of fans. He let us in on a few secrets, including that one of his favourite cameos was in the Avengers movie and his most loveable character is Spiderman’s Aunt May. He also told us the character he would most like to meet is Tony Stark and that he believes no one else but Robert Downey Junior could have played the role.
• Star Trek fans grabbed pictures with the original Captain’s chair from the upcoming ‘Star Trek Beyond’ feature, filmed right here in Dubai
• Those in the know, rushed to check out the new Samsung virtual reality goggles and experience a fresh world of gaming
• The artistic wunderkind and veteran comic book genius Whilce Portacio was on hand to answer fan questions about his years of experience and work with X Factor, Uncanny X Men and Heroes Reborn: Iron Man
Day Two Highlights:
• MEFCC announced MEFCC announced that GAMES 16 will be held in September 22nd to 24th 2016 and ANIME will take place in Abu Dhabi in 27th to 29th of October 2016.
• An exclusive screening of Bilal by Barajoun Entertainment Animation
• Die hard fans learned how to make your own Cosplay accessories from the world famous Alodia!
• CEO of Starlight Entertainment Jeff Gomez sat down to critique the big screen adaptations of Shared Universes and let us know who is getting it right!
• Creativity went wild in the Cosplay competition with entries from all over the world! The effort of two of the competitors paid off as they won a trip to Japan! The best female was Isabelle as a character from Starcraft and the best male David Woodhouse came as Warlord.
Katch our Day Three Highlights:
• Ali Mostafa launched the trailer of his new film
• Max Landis delighted fans with a Q&A but was crushed by Veronica Taylor at the #geekquiz!
• The winners of the raffle competition was announced today at the main stage, where a lucky winner was able to get their hands on a VIP trip to Los Angeles for two to walk the red carpet alongside Stan Lee at the premiere of Captain America: Civil War!
• Fans got to witness the RKO of Randy Orton and he was on hand to give tips for budding wrestlers • Stan Lee, the godfather of Comic Books, made another special appearance via an online live Q&A session in the IMAX theatre, giving the true diehard fans a chance to speak to the man himself.

HC LuxSpa is the result of a brand partnership between luxury medical spa group, HC MedSpa, and leading beauty product distributor, Louella Belle. From bespoke luxury manicures, gel upgrades and MAN-icures for the avid male groomers, HC LuxSpa brings premium nail services in store to heighten the everyday shopping experience at Selfridges Birmingham and Marks and Spencer in Westfields.
Katch was tasked with the responsiblity of rasing the brand's online presence, through devising an engaging social media strategy. We were also required to enhance awareness of the brand in consumer and trade media, using traditional PR techniques.
PR and Social Media Strategy
HC LuxSpa launched firstly in Selfridges, Birmingham, and Katch wanted to invite as many consumer press as possible to sample the brand in store. Through strategic planning and journalist liaison, Katch organised a weekend press trip in November for target publications, including OK! and 1883, to experience the treatments that HC LuxSpa had to offer.
Subsequently, Katch conducted extensive blogger outreach and secured a number of top Birmingham based beauty bloggers to visit the nail bar. As a result of the reviews and write-ups, HC LuxSpa's online presence improved dramatically, with the brand appearing in the top three pages of Google.
Across social media, Katch's aim was to incorporate both the products and services as well as highlight shareable assets such as the positive blogger reviews and relevant, on trend articles. HC LuxSpa's treatment menu was well supported by some of the most luxurious nail brands available to market, including Morgan Taylor, Seche, Dadi’ Oil and the revolutionary IBX. This information acted as the basis for a number of posts, and allowed Katch to publish engaging product imagery alongside copy.
Weekly reports were sent to the client with information on pending coverage, as well as insights into how social media posts were performing.
As a result of the PR and social media strategy put into place, Katch obtained page leads in a number of renonwed Birmingham publications and consumer media as per the following.
