LE66, the Parisian concept store located in City Walk encouraged Dubai’s fashionistas to embrace the spirit of summer with a fun interactive workshop hosted by fashion stylist and winner of the Instastar of the Year Grazia Awards 2017, Samantha Francis Baker on May 23rd between 7 and 9 pm. Popularly known by her Instagram handle of @Styleisnecessity, the session was aptly titled “Style Necessities for the Summer” and saw Samantha dressing 12 male and female mannequins on the boutique floor in the season’s most-talked about trends.
Samantha teamed her own individualistic aesthetic with current sartorial looks that are heating up the fashion world. The lovely ladies in attendance were shown how to pair corsets with androgynous military-inspired shoulders and give them a feminine twist with belts to cinch in the overall look. Those eager to incorporate something fresh into their wardrobes were told how stripes could be paired with florals. Pink is definitely having a fashion moment and Samantha explained how guests could make the most of this flattering shade. For those who always considered bikini tops an item best reserved for the beach, Samantha showcased how they could be incorporated in one’s day-to-day life by pairing them with full-bodied, flowing silhouettes.
The men too received their fair share of tips and tricks and Samantha paid ode to Kanye West’s fashion quotient with some Kanye-inspired oversized and nude pieces. The 50’s and 70’s are definitely having a renaissance and those with a passion for all things dapper were shown how to combine preppy high-waist trousers with rolled up ankles.
Image consulting is something Samantha is well-known for and guests were also treated to invaluable advice as to how to pick color palettes and cuts that accentuate for the summer months.

Known for her distinct five-octave vocal range, she is equally distinguished as a songwriter, penning all but one of her #1 singles, including “Fantasy,” “Always Be My Baby,” “Hero,” “Touch My Body,” “One Sweet Day” and “We Belong Together,” more than any other solo artist.

Former band member of The Wanted, Nathan Sykes will be setting the stage on fire by performing as the supporting act to Enrique Iglesias on Friday 24th of February. Wednesday, 28th September saw the electrifying Premier Launch of iLuminate™, a New York based group specializing in the field of entertainment technology. The touring company performed in the conference hall of Princess Noura Abdul Rahman University for Women to an audience of political and media elite, including noted presenter, Ibrahim Basha. iLuminate™, the Off-Broadway smash spectacle is a visual feast.
They wowed the USA with their groundbreaking light suits and innovative dance moves on NBC's "America's Got Talent," where the dance-in-the-dark LED sensation was selected as one of the hit show's top finalists after judge Piers Morgan called them "The Best New Act in America!" The innovative performers entertained the young and mature alike, with contemporary music blended with choreography as the LED suits were used to create visual illusions. The highly organised affair was brought to life to an expressive and appreciative audience. Local businesses Munch Bakery, Fauchon, Krispy Kreme and Ala Khafeef provided food and beverages at the venue. Miral Kotb, an entrepreneur, dancer, choreographer, and software engineer combined her passion for dance and computers in 2009 to create iLuminate™. The concept emerged while Miral was developing iPhone applications. She had a vision of dancers wearing costumes that illuminated wirelessly to compliment the music and choreography; wireless technology that could be controlled from the palm of one’s hand. She pursued her idea with help from some of the best hardware and software engineers in the business to create this innovative production. Following the establishment of the General Authority for Entertainment, in May, the invigoration of the cultural scene in the kingdom is a major component of vision 2030. Vision 2030 is determined to diversify the capabilities of the Saudi Economy away from its currently high dependency on oil. Productions of this nature will help the entertainment industry, which in turn should attract tourism to the region.
The show is scheduled to continue its run in Riyadh before moving onto Jeddah. In Riyadh the show will continue on until Saturday, October 8th, and then will move on to the Red Sea city of Jeddah, where it will be held in the locked hall in King Abdullah Sports City from Monday, October 12th to Thursday, October 22nd.

Day by day, Dubai continues to cement its stature on the global fashion scene, whether through the success of our local designers amongst the Hollywood stars or the launch of our own official Fashion Week marked on the international calendars of industry insiders.
This growth is never more evident than when reflected in the gravitas of the Harper’s Bazaar Best Dressed list; celebrating the style and achievements of 45 regional fashionistas for whom beautiful clothes are as important as strength of spirit and ambition.
Last week, Katch International were lucky enough to join the veritable list of whos who in celebrating this iconic publication at an exclusive event held in the St Regis Dubai, Al Habtoor City and catered by the fabulous Brasserie Quartier. Hosted by the team at Harper’s Bazaar Arabia and MatchesFashion.com, the evening was designed to exude the same level of style as those of the ladies it honoured, a feat made possible in part by the partnership with Payal New York. Katch friend and client, Payal Mehta, founded Payal New York in 2009 with the deep held belief that is was essential to design jewellery that would speak to a woman’s character and reflect her spirit while remaining easy, as she puts it ‘jewellery is meant to be worn, not hidden in a safe’.
This sentiment was echoed by many of the Best Dressed Women and Harper’s Bazaar Arabia team who were selected to wear pieces from the Payal New York collection; allowing a glimpse into the creativity of Payal’s work and enabling us to see how the pieces fall and move as the wearer walks. On a night with such glamour, it was hard to tell which sparkled more, the stars overhead, the stunning roof lights of garden at the St Regis, or the necks and ears of the guest adorned with Payal New York diamonds. Thank you to Harper’s Bazaar and all the attendees for an overall fabulous evening.
